Karl G Posted May 13, 2013 Share #3 Posted May 13, 2013 Very interesting tree and nice picture. I wish we could grow these where we live. They are supposed to smell like Eucalyptus Menthol cough drops.

platypus Posted May 13, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted May 13, 2013 Thanks everyone for your comments. Karl, eucalypts will grow almost anywhere, they are very hardy. When crushed the leaves smell stronger than any cough drop!

allamande Posted May 15, 2013 Share #9 Posted May 15, 2013 Dee, This one is magnificient! Love, love, love it. The leaves and the texture/color of the branches look like the eucalyptus that's common around here. But the trunk looks almost like an olive tree! So interesting. platypus Posted May 15, 2013 Author Share #10 Posted May 15, 2013 Thanks Ece! These are funny little trees, they only grow to about 15 feet in height and are always strangely shaped by the wind and weather they have to handle above the snow line. Each has it's own very unique personality, this one is relatively young specimen. Glad you liked the shot. Dee.
