Moonrise Over Madison

I was on top of a tall building last night doing a portrait shoot when a nearly full moon broke the horizon, so I took a short break from the other shoot to get this. M8/24, ISO320

Hi Brent - Beautiful image. Much better than my shot of the same moon last night over the East River (below), but I share it as it apparently we were struck by the same impression of the moon and were on the same wave length with our gear in hand :)

I don't know about that, Adam. I think yours is better. It sure shows the difference between my M8 and your M9 in terms of noise.

Tonight the moon is full, and I'm looking at it from the window of my home office instead of the18th floor of a downtown building. So it goes.

Adam,

Wow, This is great too, especially with the lights off the river. My only suggestion would be to clone out the concrete ledge at the left side of the picture that is over the Pepsi sign, then it would be perfect.

Hi Brent - i very much enjoy the expansiveness of your image. I will clarify that, in an effort to minimize noise, i used a tripod and dropped the iso setting to 160. Based on the rather clear image of the car driving by in your image, it would seem that you may have had your ISO cranked up. True?

Paul - many thanks for the tip to clone out the street light. Will do so and for a nanosecond feel like the great Houdini!

Adam - I was only at ISO 320, however, I did underexpose my image which led to noise issues when I adjusted it in ACR. I also didn't do any noise reduction on the original. Here's another frame that wasn't quite so underexposed and with NR applied in PP. I think it looks a bit better.
