About an hour away from Mt Cook National Park is Lake Pukaki. On a sunny late spring day, the clarity of the water as well as the distant mountains is amazing. Here are 2 shots, the first cropped to give a pano look. Sony A850 w/19mm and 35-70mm VE.

On my rented motorcycle, racing along at 130kph on the Mt. Cook hwy (yes I know, I was speeding!) I kept wobbling all over the road 'cause I kept looking at the deep, beautiful, blue of Lake Pukaki.

It really does look like that.

Lovely shots!

Thanks. I lost count the number of times I stopped to photograph and admire the views along this stretch of highway.
