Most of Death Valley is gravel covered windswept plains or vast salt flats. However there are a few areas with sand dunes and lonely plants. I wanted to capture the plant life and found I was not the only one with that idea... M8+50mm Summilux M asph. Thank you for staying hydrated. Jim

Very nice shot. I'm wondering - did you use an IR filter here? The shot lookes a bit IR shifted.

Thank you both for the comments. Yes I was using the IR / UV cut filter. It was getting late in day and the light was warm - in more ways than just color... Jim

Wonderful shot, very hot place.

In 1976 I took my Harley out there and when we gassed up in Bakers Field it was 110 at 10 in the evening.

Now thats hot.

Very nice. At the right time of the year (wildflower season especially), this is a magical place with a wide variety of features to explore. Artists peaks, Darwin Falls, Badwater Flats are some of my favs.

Great shot of a lovely place as long as it isn't July- August- September. Too hot then. I know. I was dumb enough to try it many years ago.

One just has to take sufficient water. They say a person would need to carry close to 40 liters of water just to make it across the valley floor on foot. The early gold rush travelers didn't and couldn't even make it back to where they started from. Hence the name: Death Valley...
