Shannon Falls is a difficult place to photograph, if you want to get close, you will need rain gear, with your camera equipment, some sort of water protection or underwater housing. Its dark and the falls being white..well you get the idea.

This is done with K64 Pro, 3 sec

Scanned using Vuescan to DNG RAW

Thanks for looking

Cheers, JRM

First class picture! The water mist perfectly matches the streams of water, resulting from the longer exposure time. It perfectly expresses "wetness".

As a sidenote, I think the shadow in the frame does not do your wonderful picture a favour, since it is an element distracting from the main thing: the pic. I would take a simple white frame, and nothing else (well, your signature, or course).

Regards,

Marcus

John,

Judy and I visited Vancouver seventeen months ago. We are still talking about the area. Thank you for showing us this beautifully photographed and scientifically processed slice of your world.

Thank you everyone for your kind and generous comments.

This area of the world is in terms of nature, spectacular. It has its own moods and moments, sometimes they reveal themselves and then suddenly its gone, as if it never happened.

Shannon Falls is an extremely challenging place to photograph, on a sunny day the water is too white and you are plagued by deep shadows and harsh contrasts.

In the winter the falls are so intense that the mist /rain showers you from 300 yrds away.so its hard to get close to them, to top it off the falls are in a sort of canyon enclosure, making it hard to get a clean shot...but thats the point, the falls are also part of the Squamish nations creation story, so its a sacred area for them..adding to the enigma of the place.

Thanks again
