leicamann Posted March 29, 2012 Share #1 Posted March 29, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) This was an extremely difficult shot to bring back to the real colour spectacle that happened that morning 2 years ago. Its only with the advances of Photoshop CS6 and their new Camera RAW 7.2 that I have been able to finally get a semblance of a rare and spectacular event that happens. The RAW file is full of hue and saturation exaggerations, if it had been shot in jpeg, it would have been lost to the shenanigans of jpeg compression. The event: on the morning of January 7th 2010, there was a very strong pre-dawn glow, an indication that something unique was about to happen. I walked for 4 km to the wharf at Ambleside with all the heavy tripod gear, as we got to about 20 minutes before sunrise, the picture you see is a small facsimile of what took place. Once the sun came over Mt Baker, it was over, ironically thats when many of the "photographers" showed up...but they missed that magic 20 minute interlude. Enjoy and thanks for looking Cheers, JRM

leicamann Posted April 3, 2012 Author Share #11 Posted April 3, 2012 Thank you everyone for your kind comments. This one was a difficult nut to crack, the colours were so peculiar, I really had to go by memory as a reference on this one. Cheers, JRM
mhanke Posted April 3, 2012 Share #12 Posted April 3, 2012 Great scene, wonderful tonality. Personally, I would have placed the bridge a bit lower in the pic, to permit the sky to "brreath" a litlle stronger. Regards, Marcus
leicamann Posted April 4, 2012 Author Share #13 Posted April 4, 2012 Thanks Macus.. yes I understand where you coming from, I have over 100 pictures taken that morning and one with a Panorama with more sky..its just that I find posting Panoramas here is a waste of time , you lose so much .
