I've often thought about getting out of Manhattan and disappearing into the American West. This town looked like a possibility but there was no Walmart. Perhaps before the inter-state highways were built, perhaps before all the valuable minerals had been mined out. I should have spent more time than just taking this picture. I really should have talked to the locals to find out what they do here, but there was no one around... M8, 50mm Summilux M asph. Thanks for looking, Jim

But it's a dry heat Paul....I've never been out there in the dead of summer. This photo was taken last April and the wind was really blowing the whole time. It may be really hot but with the wind and low humidity it really doesn't feel that bad. I just noticed that I was always thirsty and drank bottle after bottle of water...

Another case of the same shot presented in different ways can be so different. I think the color version is restful while the b&w version shouts out with its dramatic tones Both are equally good, it's for the viewer to decide their preference.

I agree with Paul, sometimes it is difficult to make a decision. but it is always interesting to discover if a shot works in both versions, and this is working definately.

I think you've caught very successfully the essence of what you describe here, Jim.

This photograph reminds me of Black Rock where Spencer Tracy spent a Bad Day.
