pgk Posted February 28, 2012 Share #2 Posted February 28, 2012 Howard The darkened sky and harder top left section of the tree look just a bit overcooked on my monitor I'm afraid. The dark tree especially is quite dominant.

I'll post a version that hasn't been worked on as much.
pauledell Posted February 28, 2012 Share #4 Posted February 28, 2012 Howard, Your second version is much nicer. Fine composition, tones and clarity. Paul
stuny Posted February 28, 2012 Share #5 Posted February 28, 2012 Howard- Technically #2 is better, but it lacks the mystery and atmosphere of #1. Perhaps another halfway in between?
}{B Posted February 29, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted February 29, 2012 Thanks for all the comments. I've found that moving the clarity slider in Lightroom even a small amount so as to introduce some blur into the photo produces a dark 'halo' effect around the tree trunk very quickly. I did want a darker sky and so I've worked on a third version with the clarity slider moved to the negative side as much as I can before it starts to show around the tree. JazzDoc Posted March 1, 2012 Share #7 Posted March 1, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Tough the find that happy medium. The price paid for the third version was the effect on those grasses. Version 2's still my pick.
