I assume Dartmouth , England and not Dartmouth Nova Scotia :)

On the Photoshop side, your scan has a bit of a "pink:" hue...may I suggest you use the "eye dropper tool" to walk around the image to find either a neutral gray or white point.

You don't mention the type of film used?

 

Whats your scanner setup and software post processing?

Quite right, Dartmouth, Devon, England :)

 

My scanner is a very cheap HP Officejet 4500 and I am using Photoshop Elements v7 for

post processing. The film is Fujicolour C200.

 

I agree about the pink hue and wasn't sure how to get rid.

 

I'm still learning :)
