Spo Posted January 31, 2012 Share #1 Posted January 31, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Tantallon Castle in East Lothian. It was a bit wild today but got a few shots. I am currently going slightly mad with dust on my sensor. You can clearly see it in these images and I don't even know where to start to remove it from them. I would welcome suggestions on keeping it clean, or indeed getting it clean in the first place. Anyway, three versions, would appreciate comments on them, not sure of one, guess which one! Bill Allsopp Posted January 31, 2012 Share #2 Posted January 31, 2012 I like the first two, the other is overpowered by the dark bottom. Dust is easy enough to eradicate with Adobe lightroom or photoshop but a sensor clean is needed. Start with a rocket blower to remove any grit which might scratch then take an exposure to check if any is left and if so revert to a wet clean with some special swabs and cleaner. Nerve wracking the first time but easy enough actually.
Guest suilvenman Posted February 2, 2012 Share #3 Posted February 2, 2012 #1 - I tend to be a bit wary of sepia but nevertheless beautifully executed. #2 - I think this would be the wall photo choice for its composition and tonal range. #3 - I actually prefer this one for both composition and brooding atmosphere. Not sure about the frame, though. Excellent work, Spo. Ken.

Nice shots, all of them. I like #2 best due to the composition. #3 is a bit dark. Bernhard

Bateleur Posted February 2, 2012 Share #6 Posted February 2, 2012 I fell in love with the first one and was quite happy to contemplate its mystery and drama and not scroll down. I liked the joining of land on the left edge. Regards Charles
Spo Posted February 2, 2012 Author Share #7 Posted February 2, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Folks, Thanks for all your comments. I am growing to like the first but feel the darker one may be a better image. I have tried a new HDR version of it and post it here, again comments appreciated. Heading off to Skye in the morning for a few days so have just attacked the sensor with a blower and a swab, seems to be cleaner but I know the first lens change will be critical!! pauledell Posted February 3, 2012 Share #8 Posted February 3, 2012 Spo, I like No. 2 and No.3 with the cold neutral tone for the brooding mood they give. Even though No. 3 may be too dark, i like the chilling story it tells. Right out of the classics. Paul
