tollie Posted January 11, 2012 Share #1 Posted January 11, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Several days ago there was a nice thread about the 12mm CV lens. I had not shot it in many months and so I pulled it out and made this photograph. The flare was really cool. I cant recall it on other uses but this is what you get when you point the lens at the sun... lol. Cheers,

pauledell Posted January 12, 2012 Share #3 Posted January 12, 2012 Todd, A magical shot with the sun flare. Great composition, colors and clarity. I think it would be even better to crop or clone the flare on the water at the bottom of the picture although some may think that it adds to it. Fang Posted January 12, 2012 Share #4 Posted January 12, 2012 Great shot. Did you use an ND filter?
Michael Geschlecht Posted January 12, 2012 Share #5 Posted January 12, 2012 Hello tollie, Nice photo. I like it the way it is. Does that lens have a 9 leaf diaphram? Best Regards, Michael
tollie Posted January 12, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted January 12, 2012 Many thanks all. This image is a bit different from my usual run or landscapes... I really don't know what to think of it. But I like it. I was really surprised by the star flare... Michael, yes the lens does have 9 aperture blades. The front lens is allmost dome shaped and protrudes so that a conventional filter would not fit. CV sells a special adapter which allows 77mm filters to be fit but I have not gone that route. So Fang, I did not use an ND filter. The lens is a screw mount but can be fit to the M bayonet by means of an inexpensive adapter. I have an external viewfinder and the lens is not coupled to the rangefinder. This is the widest lens available for the M series camera and so it is something of a quirky specialty lens. It is not expensive. I have the 1st version. There is a new version out, available at Cameraquest that has a bayonet mount, is coupled to the rangfinder and will easily take filters.
