Picked up my M8 last week (after a six months wait), but my first outing with it was on Saturday. Great light. All pictures taken with the 28mm Elmarit ASPH. This a super lens - I'm delighted with it.
All processed with ACR 3.7 and PSCS2. Tate Modern 01 MONO.jpg Tate Modern Art Gallery, London. View from Millenium Bridge Tate Modern 02 MONO.jpg Tate Modern Art Gallery, London. Congratulation to your M8 ... looks like you had a good day ... I think london is a bit funny weather wise at the moment ... I take mine out and want to take pictures and then it starts raining ...

Tim -
Congratulations on finally getting your new toy, and you're already doing most impressive things with it. These all have terrific angles, geometry, light, tones and details |

Thanks, guys, for the affirmatory responses.
Ah ... London weather! But the very inconstancy brings great atmosphere and opportunity. I've been taking photos for over 40 years (perhaps I should be better at it by now!), but I'm discovering that this forum is a really great place to show and to be encouraged. I'll be back. Thanks again, Tim |

Hi Tim,
one question from me, is this a original picture without any postprocessing in photoshop? These pictures are so sharp like a razor blade ThanX for your answer, -- Lemsi Germany Travel Guide to Germany by German Places |

There is some post processing in PS. Some modest Smart Sharpening - 300 at 0.5 and I have brought up the foreground shadows a little in the St. Paul's shot. Perhaps the sharpening is unecessary for these small web images - they are so sharp straight from the M8. But I find that most RAW files from DSLR and M8 can take a little sharpening that really makes them jump, without looking over-sharpened - if that is what you want. I tend to work on images with a view to full size (or larger) prints. The B&W shots have obviously been processed - I have picked up some very handy free B&W actions for PS on the web. The one used here adds a colour fill layer that enables variable toning to be applied. The first and fourth shots have mild toning applied in this way. The second shot with the sun behind the chimney is not toned. Thanks for your comments and interest, and for looking. Tim Last edited by Tim B : 03/08/07 at 06:23 PM. |
