R8/28 Elmarit-R/Velvia 50
This place is within walking distance of where we are staying this year. I feel a walk coming on. (Golden Eagles fly across here too) [That's enough Islay for now... Ed.] ![]()

Nice and moody Andy, it's a pity about the sky being so noisy though. I assume the original was ok.
That Elmarit is a good lens ;-)

You're right. It could do with either re-taking or re-scanning.

Fascinating capture. I've not seen a formation like that before.

We came across these by chance - someone had been there before us (obviously... ) and stood small stones on their ends on the rocks. Why, I don't know, but I shall have another look this summer.

Hey, it looks like Newton is weak here! Beware of the wind when you are there, as you might have a closer look to the golden eagles. I had never seen a place where the gravity was that much lower than average!
I really like the picture and the feeling of alien world that you nicely captured... Thanks for sharing! |

Thanks Gentlemen
The light on the islands is fabulous, so I can see myself spending more time here this year than I could afford last time we were there. I am also going to try to get up to Lewis before someone sticks 181 450ft high wind turbines all over the place... ![]()

Yes, I heard that they seemed to have got the go-ahead on the news this morning.
One thing bothers me though. If wind power becomes really, really popular, won't we be taking so much energy out of the atmosphere that wind power itself will start to affect the climate :-)

You will have to use a tumble dryer, powered by the electricity generated by the wind that would have dried your washing for nothing if it hadn't all been used up generating electricity
I sense some madness here... ![]()

Not as mad as city dwellers buying wind turbines though ;-)

I have re-scanned this one this afternoon. Twice.
I did a normal scan for the beach and the foreground, but turned the volume up to 11 in Vuescan to bring as much out of the sky as possible, and then combined the two scans into one. Needed a lot of work though.
