Jorge,

B&W is fine, but please post the color version of this one too at this resolution. I remember it well and thought it very good at showing all the various shades in those cliffs which most shots of the Grand Canyon fail to convey. You were very lucky with the light on this one.

Jorge -

Didn't you post another color one shot just after dawn? That one was the color wonder. For this pair I far prefer the B&W with its lush tones.

I'm with the monochrome version too. Absolutely tremendous range of tones and as William has already commented wonderful light.

Cheers, Dave

Both versions are excellent. I think there is more atmosphere in the B&W

Like Peter, I prefer the colour one.

The Grand Canyon is one place that I'll definitely visit in my life. This picture is absolutely breathtaking. Great shot.

Default AW: Grand canyon DMR PSed to B&W

Both versions, but the b/w more than the colour, suffer from the problem that they lack depth, they appear two dimensional. In the b/w version, the left formation of rocks blends into the background, in spite of being the one closest. In the colour version, the formation and the cliff on the right compete for the privilege of being the closest; optically at least, nearly has an M.C. Escher-esque perspective. In all, I think the framing is not perfect. The b/w picture has a more dramatic appearance, especially the sky, but does not disclose that there is a river at the bottom, which can only be recognized in the colour pic.

Marcus
