JeTexas Posted April 2, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 2, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Work takes me to London this weekend. I'll be wandering the city Saturday and Sunday before I'm stuck in the office Monday - Wednesday. Anyone have some restaurant recommendations or must-see locations? Anyone from London want to grab coffee or a beer?
Advertisement Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Hi JeTexas, Take a look here Wandering London, April 5 & 6. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
dkCambridgeshire Posted April 2, 2014 Share #2 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) Speakers' Corner near Marble Arch is worth a visit on Saturday or Sunday. Good photo opportunities for people pictures … both speakers and hecklers. And on Sunday morning the adjacent Bayswater Rd features the Bayswater Artists displaying their artworks on the railings … sometimes with street entertainers present. dunk Edited April 2, 2014 by dkpeterborough
jcraf Posted April 2, 2014 Share #3 Posted April 2, 2014 Brick Lane, just east of the City is a must on Sundays. A long street with a vibrant street market, and lots of places to eat if you like Indian or Bangladeshi food (ie curries). I might be able to meet you somewhere central on the Sunday; PM me if you fancy it. Anyone else from the London area fancy meeting up with JeTexas and doing a Brick Lane (or other central location) bash on Sunday? earleygallery Posted April 2, 2014 Share #4 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) Hi, Unfortunately I'm away this weekend otherwise a meet would have been good (I missed one the other weekend). A few suggestions. The City (i.e. the financial district of London, EC post codes) is mostly empty at the weekends and many bars/restaurants don't bother opening, so the West End and other areas of London will have more to offer on Sat/Sun. Brick Lane is worth a visit as suggested. There is a David Bailey exhibition on at the National Portrait gallery. The weather is improving here so you might like to wander some of the parks, Regents Park, St James's, Hyde Park. If you like beer I posted a historic pub crawl in another thread I'll try to find the link. found it http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/barnacks-bar/321622-recommended-pubs-cafes-restaurants-worldwide.html Edited April 2, 2014 by earleygallery

jcraf Posted April 4, 2014 Share #6 Posted April 4, 2014 We are planning to meet in the lobby of the Grange Hotel St Pauls, 10 Godliman Street, EC4V 5BD at 1030 on Sunday. (Note that there is no Central Line service between Marble Arch and Liverpool St this weekend, so the nearest tube station (St Pauls) will be closed). Check Home - Transport for London for travel updates We'll then shamble off in the direction of Brick lane. So far we have: jcraf farnz JeTexas frankwaller Feel free to come along. Look forward to seeing you there. Regards

Julian H Posted April 6, 2014 Share #10 Posted April 6, 2014 Hi gents. I was hoping to join you today after just seeing this thread. Unfortunately my trains have a rail replacement service running which is always a nightmare so this time I will give it a miss. Hope to come along another time. I hope the weather holds off for you. Best wishes, Julian

farnz Posted April 6, 2014 Share #15 Posted April 6, 2014 It was an honour to meet you too, Fred, and I hope you enjoyed the tiny keyhole we were able to show you London through. I hope you'll be encouraged to come back and see a bit more, which will be different to the bit you saw today. Pete.
jcraf Posted April 6, 2014 Share #16 Posted April 6, 2014 Yes, it was a pleasure to meet you Fred, and show you a small portion of our city. It was also great to meet a new face in the form of Frank, and to see Bob and Pete again. Hope the rest of your time in London goes well, and I hope we can meet up again some day.
