Leica Meeting in Brussels

Hello,

I would like to organise a photo walk in Brussels in March or April.

Any Leica enthousiast interested to join?

I have never organised these kinds of get togethers before, so if anyone feels like helping with the organisation, it would be more than appreciated :)

Kind regards,

Frédéric

Hi Frederic,

I would be interested in joining, assuming the date is good for my agenda. You might want to speak with Jip on the forum as he organized a meeting in Antwerp in the second half of 2013....

Hi Simon,

Thanks a lot. With regards to the dates, I will inform you very soon, so I hope it fits your schedule.

I kind of hoped Jip would organise another meeting in Brussels but unfortunately it doesn't look like it will happen in the near future. I hope he can join also.

Best regards,

Frédéric

A good start would be to assign a date, and if you know Brussels well think about an accessible starting location, and a good photogenic walking route through the city, taking in a nice place for lunch and/or dinner.....

I have lived and worked in Brussels for years so I know Brussels very well.

I was thinking of using the Central Station as a starting point and already have a pretty good idea of the places we could go to.

Best regards,

Frédéric

Hello, bonjour, goede morgen, bom dia.

I lived half a century in Brussels, and come back "home" (I live for 20 years now in Portugal) one or two times a year. If there at the chosen date, I'll certainly join: So, I'll follow the developments of this nice project.

Thanks !

Ok, until now we have 6 members who are interested :

After thinking it over one more time and discussing the topic with some friends I think it’s better to organize this on a Sunday. So, I would suggest March, Sunday 23rd.

The local Leica Store will also send an invitation to their customers so maybe we will have some more people joining us.

This weekend I will work on the walking route.

Best Regards,

Frédéric

Hi There !! Greetings from Luxembourg.

I am interested as well. Both dates work for me. Just to know that Saturday shops are open. More people in the street and interesting if you are coming with someone who is not interested in Photography (How is it possible ;-)

A good starting point would be also Place du Marché aux Herbes (Grasmarkt). Really close to Grand Place and maint train station, with a lovely second hand market. Gallerie du Roi et de la Reine... Rue des bouchers...

So, great time coming...

Hi Everyone,

This Saturday I have been doing the tour I had in mind for our Leica Meet... This is what I propose :

Start at Brussels Central Station

1. Royal Library

2. Place des Martyrs

3. Mont des Arts

4. Royal Palace

5. Brussels Park

6. Justice Palace

7. Jardin du petit Sablon

8. Place du grand Sablon

9. Galeries Saint-Hubert

10. Grand Place and Town Hall

11. Manneken Pis

12. Station Chapelle (Graffiti)

13. Place St. Catherine and St. Catherine’s church

14. Notre Dame de la Chapelle

15. Place du Jeu de Balle

16. The Bourse (Stock Exchange)

17. Rue des Bouchers

In the next couple of days I will try to add some more information about each location so you guys can come well prepared :)

Anyway, as you have noticed it's quite a tour so I propose to start at 9:30AM.

End of February I will close the inscriptions and then I will find us a nice restaurant to have a lunch.

If you have other suggestions, don't hesitate to share them with me...

Best regards,

Frédéric

Goodness, the itinerary looks quite ambitious for a forum members' meeting. If you start at 09.30 and spend only half an hour getting to and staying at each venue then it'll be 6pm before you finish. And that's without stopping for lunch or other refreshments.:o

Pete.
