I mentioned Blackpool a while ago - that might prove a little down at heel for our more aristocratic friends. How about a jaunt over to North Wales? Conway?

I'm open to suggestions.

Down at heel?

I was in the poshest restaurant in Blackpool at the exact same time you were writing that, last night. We were the only occupied table there...

What it needs is a property developer to come along...

I think that zany should take us on an expedition up the Glyders, or wherever, and show us how it's done.

Or maybe someone with connections in the luxury car market could get us into an assembly hall in Crewe

Maybe we should think further afield? After all, most of us have "done" most of this area.

Strange, I would have thought McDonalds would have been busier on a Thursday night.

The "well known motor manufacturer from Crewe" is a no camera zone.

How about the Appleby Horse Fair?

(Perhaps one for next year - it's earlier in the year than I thought)

Good suggestion Andy but as you say maybe a bit too short notice.

Cheshire Steam Fair

I'm thinking of going to the Steam Rally at Tabley on either the 14th or 15th of July, anyone care to join me?

Bastille Day is normally celebrated appropriately, chez nous, so I'm undecided on which day will produce the sharper photos.
Given the current weather patterns, a late decision may be the way forward.

A July weekend. Hmmm. Too close to my birthday to be spent with some bunch of middle-aged blokes what smell of fixer, I'm afraid...

BUT, never fear! Let's do New Brighton in August or September. It's the Blackpool of the Wirral after all.

(Am I selling this right, guys?)

New Brighton in September would get my vote - "Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness" as the Scousers say.

I'd be up for the steam fair and New Brighton. Nothing like the the light on the Mersey on an Autumnal afternoon.

Pete, when you've made up you mind regarding the steam fair let me know.

Can't make 14th or 15th July - but Autumn on the peninsular sounds good to me.
