farnz Posted August 29, 2012 Share #1 Posted August 29, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) This meet-up is primarily to welcome forum member George James back after recuperating from a lengthy illness (see thread here). The details are as follows: Which date? Saturday 29th September 2012 Meet where? At Red Dot Cameras, 68 Old Street, London. EC1V 9AN, where proprietors Ivor and Elaine Cooper have very kindly agreed to specially open up the shop as a place for us to meet. Weblink here. When? 12 pm planning to move off at about 1 pm What's the plan? A leisurely stroll from Red Dot Cameras (A) through the lesser known but interesting and ancient area of Clerkenwell taking in local interest, stopping for the odd photograph as the mood takes, pausing for the odd breather or refreshment as desired, browsing the unusual smaller shops in Exmouth Market (D) and finishing at the Wilmington Arms (E) for further refreshment or victuals as needed. The expected route is as below: Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Route map is courtesy of Google Maps. As a pre-meet-up extra and close to Red Dot Cameras, the Barbican Arts Centre is showing an exhibition of photographs from the 60's and 70's called Everything Was Moving that opens at 11 am so those who are planning to come along will have an hour or so's enjoyment perusing the exhibition before making their way to Red Dot. All members and guests are welcome so ... why not come along and welcome George back and treat yourself to an enjoyable day chatting to other forum members and seeing a part of London that you otherwise might not see! I'd be grateful if you'd very kindly post here if you're planning to attend please so that we can get an idea of numbers. See you at Red Dot, Pete. spylaw4 Posted August 29, 2012 Share #2 Posted August 29, 2012 Although we're at the NT that evening and entertaining some people the next day, I shall be there for a while at least. For those intending to go to the Barbican Photo Exhibition prior to the meet-up the location is here. I should warn you that there's a £12 entry fee (less for Barbican Members). To get to Red Dot from there simply leave the Arts Centre by the Silk Street entrance and go up Whitecross Street, turn left and RDC is by the "A" of A5201 on the map.

Tim B Posted September 16, 2012 Share #11 Posted September 16, 2012 Delighted to hear that George is back in circulation. What a great idea to celebrate with a meeting of the gang. I would very much like to be there, but at the moment I have work duties. If I can get cover I will come, but it looks unlikely at the moment. My very best wishes to George and hope that it is a good day. Tim

gyoung Posted September 19, 2012 Share #14 Posted September 19, 2012 I shall be in London on the 29th, I should be able to make it to Red Dot for 12.00 although I have a committee meeting in the afternoon for another of my interests, so regrettably wont be able to join you on the afternoon 'expedition'. It will be the first time I've made it to a forum meeting I think, so I'd better wear a name badge (or just an M3?) Gerry
