robert_parker Posted July 8, 2012 Share #1 Posted July 8, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's been suggested that it would be nice to have a London meet before the summer monsoon rains really take hold How about either Sunday 22nd or Saturday 28th, itinerary TBA ? There should be lots to see and photograph...

Mike Definitely July - the Sunday could be nice (we haven't met on a Sunday for a while) equally an 'Olymic Saturday' could generate some interesing photographs.... farnz Posted July 15, 2012 Share #4 Posted July 15, 2012 22nd July sounds good to me, Robert, please count me in. The only thing i'm aware of that it 'clashes' with is the Bristol Harbour Festival. A (later) Olympic Saturday is likely to be a nightmare travel-wise. Pete.

Yes it looks like we're aiming for next Sunday, 22nd July - as far as I know there is nothing organised for the Harbour Festival at Bristol but the hardcore enthuisast could do the Harbour Festival (which is 20 - 22 July) Friday or Saturday, then the London meet Sunday...

robert_parker Posted July 20, 2012 Author Share #14 Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) Just to say look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday at The London Film Museum at 11:30 (am ). For information the nearest tube is Covent Garden (Piccadilly Line), or Leicester Square (Northern Line or Piccadilly Line). Wellington Street Guide | Wellington Street, Covent Garden, London WC2E | Nearby hotels, shops and restaurants | LondonTown.com Thanks to Mike's friend David for suggesting the location . ps. Bring your iPad - the museum has a new iPad friendly tour commentary. Edited July 20, 2012 by robert_parker

gravastar Posted July 22, 2012 Share #16 Posted July 22, 2012 What a super day. Excellent company and excellent food. Thanks for organising this Robert . Only downside was after an excellent group meal at the New World Chinese Restaurant in Gerrard Place two of us decided to have coffee at The Rendezvous Cafe in Leicester Square. Talk about Olympic ripoff, more than £11.50 for two cappuccinos! The warning signs were there though - no prices displayed anywhere for anything. I guess the usual price is around £3.20, tourists beware! Once bitten never again . Bob.
lanetomlane Posted July 23, 2012 Share #17 Posted July 23, 2012 Disappointed I missed this one. Have been away a lot recently and hadn't checked the Members Meeting section. Would certainly been up for it had I known. That'll teach me a lesson. Sounded to have been a good event and the weather was kind. Hopefully catch up with you next time. ________________ Cheers, Tom
Seeingeye Posted July 23, 2012 Share #18 Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) What a super day. Excellent company and excellent food. Thanks for organising this Robert . +1. It was good to meet up with friends for a very enjoyable day. Only downside was after an excellent group meal at the New World Chinese Restaurant in Gerrard Place two of us decided to have coffee at The Rendezvous Cafe in Leicester Square. I guess the usual price is around £3.20, tourists beware! Once bitten never again . One would like to think that people will remember these ripoff merchants and they will quickly go out of business after the Olympic circus is over. A forlon hope, no doubt. gravastar Posted July 24, 2012 Share #20 Posted July 24, 2012 We can't leave David out . And the Cappuccinos in the second picture were a reasonable £2.20 at the LFM . Bob. Welcome, dear visitor!
