StephenPatterson Posted February 21, 2012 Share #1 Posted February 21, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) The No. 1 branch of the Chengdu Leica User Forum Members Group will be meeting tomorrow at 11am in People's Park. Our plan is to shoot street photos for a couple of hours in and around the square, followed by an editing session with the new beta version of LR4. The location for the editing session has not been finalized, but it is generally accepted that the winning location will serve cold beer along with Sichuan style cold snacks. Following the editing session, if a quorum is present, a brief business meeting will be held. As the current roster of the No. 1 branch of the Chengdu Leica User Forum Members Group consists of two members we will be discussing holding a membership drive and or cake walk. Swamiji, please bring a cake. Ming tian jian!!!! Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! StephenPatterson Posted February 21, 2012 Author Share #2 Posted February 21, 2012 One additional note. In an emergency meeting of the No. 1 branch of the Chengdu Leica User Forum Members Group it was decided, after considerable debate, to revoke the position of "Events Coordinator" from group member Swamiji. Rumors that this move was somehow connected to our recent two hour bus ride to the top of Emei Mountain only to arrive in a blinding snowstorm with zero visibility are unfounded. The duties of the "Events Coordinator" will for now be fulfilled by the "Social Welfare Chairman", which is...um...Swamiji. Oh well... Welcome, dear visitor! StephenPatterson Posted February 23, 2012 Author Share #4 Posted February 23, 2012 The No. 1 branch of the Chengdu Leica User Forum Members Group is pleased to announce our newest recruit, Mr. Song. I met Mr. Song in People's Park this morning, as he was shooting a D700 with vintage Voigtlander Color Dynarex 135/4 lens, along with his M8 and 90 Summarit. We noticed each other's Leicas and quickly started up a conversation. Mr. Song told me how his father had purchased a Leica III from a US Soldier during WW2 and how he had used it extensively for many years. Unfortunately this camera was confiscated during the Cultural Revolution, but his love of the Leica brand did not diminish and after Deng Xiao Ping came to power he was able to purchase an M3. Now the entire family are dedicated Leica shooters, with his daughter owning an M9 and his son an X1. Unfortunately Mr. Song does not speak English (or German), so his membership in The No. 1 branch of the Chengdu Leica User Forum Members Group is somewhat "honorary", however I hope to pass along more stores and photos from this fascinating man.
