farnz Posted November 9, 2011 Share #1 Posted November 9, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's a while since we had a London meet around Christmas time so I'd like to find out if there's support for such a meeting. A pre-Christmas meet-up would offer those from further afield an opportunity to combine it with a trip to Oxford Street or wherever to support those poor retail outlets who struggle so at this time of year. It also sounds like an excellent opportunity to get the green light from 'She or He Who Must Be Obeyed'. Dates-wise, a pre-Christmas meet-up would probably need to be on the weekend of 17th/18th December since Christmas will be held on 25th this year, which is a Sunday. If, as is entirely possible, this appears to be too busy a time then perhaps instead a meeting in the between Christmas and New Year when the groans of an over-full belly have been groaned and we're down to turkey sandwiches for breakfast, lunch and dinner and when an excuse to venture out of the house for a pint or two and a chat with like-minded photogs would be an attractive proposition. Dates-wise Thursday 29th or Friday 30th December would leave us clear of New Year's Eve commitments and celebrations etc. Such a meeting would allow those unable to make it on the 27th November another opportunity to catch up and hopefully attract members from further afield. What do you think? Pete.
Advertisement Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Hi farnz, Take a look here London Christmas or New Year meet?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted November 9, 2011 Share #2 Posted November 9, 2011 I might be interested in the 30th depending on what others have planned.
George James Posted November 9, 2011 Share #3 Posted November 9, 2011 Pete, Lovely suggestion, especially for those who cannot make the November meet. Unfortunately on the 18th and 19th December I shall be in Italy. I've checked for engineering work on the railway for the 29th and 30th, and at present both dates appear to be ok. But, naturally, the consensus should decide.
spylaw4 Posted November 9, 2011 Share #4 Posted November 9, 2011 Alas, I shall be sunning myself in SE Asian climes - how sad!
Tim B Posted November 9, 2011 Share #5 Posted November 9, 2011 Yes, if the date is right for me. Tim
earleygallery Posted November 9, 2011 Share #6 Posted November 9, 2011 Likewise, depending on date. I can probably make the 30th but will be working in the morning.

biglouis Posted November 11, 2011 Share #8 Posted November 11, 2011 I would be interested on either date. The November meet is not for me but I am sure after the imposed sloth of the Xmas hols I'll want to get out. Depends where. LouisB
andybarton Posted November 11, 2011 Share #9 Posted November 11, 2011 Looks like 30/12 could well be ideal.
Tim B Posted November 12, 2011 Share #10 Posted November 12, 2011 Sadly, I doubt I can make the 30th. I'll be working through to 1st Jan. My time off will be during the first week of the new year. However I might try to swap some off time with colleagues and see what can be done if 30th is decided upon by the Group. It'll be a shame to miss two meets in a row. andybarton Posted November 14, 2011 Share #11 Posted November 14, 2011 So, is the 30th a definite? Thanks
andybarton Posted November 14, 2011 Share #12 Posted November 14, 2011 It would be helpful if someone could confirm, please. I need to book a train ticket now if I'm to get one for less than a hundred quid.
farnz Posted November 14, 2011 Author Share #13 Posted November 14, 2011 Okay <puts head above parapet and winces> I'll set the date as 30th December in London. I'll suggest time and venue in a bit but let's aim to meet roughly around midday to give people time to travel without too early a start.
