Phew...just finished reading this entire post. I can't believe it's 606 days old and going.
I'm in the market for my first Leica so naturally I'm doing my DD. This thread has convinced me on which M to buy. ![]() |

![]() I started shooting film again a few months back after jumping to digital in 2000. I bought a couple of "el cheapo" Russian cameras (Zorki 4K and Lomo Lubitel U166) just to see if I'd like to use this format again and to compliment digital. Sure enough I was hooked during my first roll and gone through 6 already. These cameras are real fun to use too! I've forgotten how much fun it was to actually "think" before taking a photograph and how film does forces you to take better pictures as every shot counts! I also didn't realise how lazy I have become and how much I rely on my digital gear to "think" for me. I found the rangefinder gave me a sense of intimacy with the subject / object while focusing and composing the shot. I never got that feeling on a DSLR even in manual focus for some reason. This hobby is starting to get expensive for me and it's going to get even more expensive. I've already a Canon 40D and Canon lenses (10-22mm, 24-70L f/2.8, 70-200L f2.8 IS, 50mm f/1.4, 85mm f1.8 and 100mm f/2.8 macro). I have a feeling my wife is not going to be too pleased...but as long as I have a few occasional snaps of her I'd be fine. I hope. I'd let her know that unlike digital camera / lenses, Leica Mx / Lenses appreciates over time. ![]() |

Newly aquired Hex on my MP. The paint is wearing through in parts on the MP and i've touched it up a few times but given up! When it gets too tatty looking I will take the top off and paint it myself.

I read a whole lot of posts about those "half cases" by Luigi (which look superb) and man there was some heated discussion over it all ????? my new MP is covered in Vulcanite I think you call it and it looks sharp in my opinion. I keep my MP in its own small camera bag which also fits in my main bag. I've noticed the black paint finish is starting to wear out on the outer edge of the advance film lever. But it looks cool. I love holding the bare camera in my hands. Those half cases may be good but I love the bare naked MP feel myself It mainly lives around my neck ! Or should I say close to my heart ! ![]()

First post. I fell honored to add to this venerable thread. This is my MP with Rokkor 40mm. (I also have a CLE). I have only had this camera for 6 days but I think it must be love.
