Changing bags etc.

You need one with a double skin of black nylon, accessed at the bottom via double zips, which zip in opposite directions.

The arms should have nice tight elastic to grip your own arms when using the bag.

Practice loading the film with an old one, outside in the daylight, then inside the bag. It's very easy if you see "with your mind's eye" as you work in the bag.

If you have a watch with a fluorescent dial or numbers, take it off before you do the loading.

It can get warm inside the bag if you are loading more than two films at a time, as the heat from your arms is retained very well. If you need to remove your arms, make sure that you do so such that no light can enter via the arm holes.

Wait until it is dark out, go into your bedroom with drapes drawn, lights out and door closed, then get under the covers of your bed. Same as a changing bag.

I've even do this in the middle of the day. But my bedroom is dark to begin with.

I did the same for a long time, but, honestly, doing the same thing in a changing bag sitting in front of a desk is by far more comfortable.

Cheers,

Klaus

View camera photographers are used to changing tents. I use a Shadowbox by Visual Departures; Harrison also makes good tents. The Calumet one mentioned above is, I believe, the Photoflex, which is the least expensive but should get the job done. B&H and Adorama have good selections.

I agree w/above. Photoflex makes (made?) a table-top changing tent with internal shock cording that pops up. It's nicer IMO than a changing bag because you don't have fabric hanging over your hands while you're working.

Can´t you seal yourself in the toilet? I do it. :)

You must be very small, and able to hold your breath a long time. :D

Second the Photflex Changing Room, it's the same construction as some of their reflectors, and it makes loading 4 reels into a tank much easier.
