Default Leica Ball-Head question

I've owned a ball head since it was new. Don't know why, but I bought a ball head from a local vendor, from ebay.
Surprised that it has a black plastic knob. My original b-head has a metal knob.
Was the large ball head ever made with a black plastic knob?

Appreciate your help!

Dave,

I assume you are referring to the large (taller) ball head. If memory serves me correctly, all late versions had a black plastic knob - easier to use in extreme cold !

Best,

Jan

Yes, larger one.
I appreciate your response. Newer--that's good.
