You've got to take whatever you are happiest with. Any responses here will be other peoples' viewpoints, not yours.

If I was faced with that selection I would take the 28 only. Travel light, travel fast. No changing lens to worry about.

But that's me, it might not necessarily be you.

Well, since I don´t like anything longer than 90mm on my M I´d take the 28 and 50.
Or - to keep things simple: 28 or 50 only.

Cheers, Z.

I'd take the 28/50. Never owned a 135. Borrowed one once, good performance, but not a focal length I thought I'd need.

I'd agree with stunsworth – but I'm not really a telephoto kind of chap.

Default RE: Trip to India

I use all three and recommend a 28mm/50mm combination. You will find that those two will cover most eventualities. I took a 135mm on a trip to Madrid a few years ago and used it, but not much. While I like a 28/50 combo, I also find that 35/75 also works very well. I was recently in Germany with a 24/35/75 combo and that covered absolutely everything. In the future you may want to consider a 21/28/50 kit. Have a wonderful trip and post photos when you get back!

India is a great place, not only for taking pictures. If you know what kind of pictures you likely will take, you know your combination. Otherwise, follow the advise already given and take along the 28/50. Easier to carry.

But then, r u sure, it's only two pieces of glass you are limited to??

Definitely the 28 & 50, IMHO.

Why can't you take all three? Just wondering...

28+50 - definitely. I never felt the need for my 135. Indeed, now I might only take a 35.

I went to Venice for a week this year with only an M2 and a 35 Summicron. I don't regret it at all, despite having a shelf full of alternatives here above me.

Enjoy your experience - then take photographs. In that order.

India's a very crowded place, full of wonderful potential photographs. On that basis, I'd suggest a radical approach and go for the extremes - the 28mm for street / buildings and the 135mm for picking out isolated detail in the crowds. 15 years ago I went all over India with my trusty Nikon FE and two lenses - a 28mm and a 80-200mm zoom (I was young and didn't know any better). I mainly used the 28mm but some of the best shots were with the zoom. I didn't miss a 50mm at all, though now it's my favourite focal length.
