Hi,
Anyone else finding film hard to find lately? I've not been shooting much lately (I must get out more) but I've been slowly working through my stocks from last year only to find Fujilab UK are not selling film anymore. This is probably not a surprise to some but was a little worrying to hear Fuji say they only want to deal with suppliers direct and not the public. Kodak have been doing this for atleast 5 years but I was a little unnerved to hear Fujifilm doing the same. So I had to fall back on Photoglossy for Velvia ( without processing vouchers ) from whom I buy Kodachrome from. The film won't come in time for my next trip but I should get by with 5 slide films for a 1 week family beach holiday, and a Panasonic DMC-LX1. I might put my velvia processing by way of "peak imaging, sheffield" once my vouchers run out, or try Kodak E100G again. It seems we need to try hard to keep our favourite film suppliers and processors going if we wish to continue to enjoy our Leica film cameras. Regards, Lincoln |

Lincoln,
Try 7dayshop.com - Online Store If you make a large order you can always keep it in the fridge. They are based in the Channel Islands and advise that orders over GBP £18 will be subject to UK VAT. However the last time I placed a largeish order with them they helpfully sent it in several packages each one marked "Contents Value £17.98". A recommended service. And no, I've no connection with them ![]() |

I heard from Metro Imaging last time I was there that they think the use of film has bottomed out. Compared to the drops of the last few years, 2008 has been pretty stable (if so).
I'm not sure if that was putting a smiley face on things (they did consolidate all their branches into a single, smaller one in Clerkenwell), but if it's true, it's good news for us. At least a few places will survive... |

You could order Velvia from B&H - Fujifilm | RVP 135-36 Fujichrome Velvia 50 | 15757488 | B&H
Waiting for it to arrive sucks, but at least you can order it if no one locally has it.

I second 7dayshop (you can specify rapid delivery if you wish, and they always break down to sub-£18 packages in my experience)
Calumet branches or online store stock it, but you will have to pay the VAT There's also the place on Jersey. M2.com or something similar, although I've not personally used them.

MX2.com
I get all my film from there now and have been using them for 2 years with no complaints. They're highly reliable and very helpful, with good stock levels. Most of my orders have arrived within 48 hours, some slightly faster. They ship film in multiple small packages (all sub £18 value) which ensures they can also fit through a standard letterbox. |

Hi,
Thanks. I ended up using my tamed Jersey company Photoglossy.com. I nervously sent a film to fujilab to be processed and it came back fine as usual within the week. I'll use them until my processing vouchers run out, which may be a year as I'm not getting out much to take new landscapes much lately. I only had time to shoot 1 Velvia100DL film on the minilux while in Turkey for 1 week as we had a new Grandaughter of 5 months which had the attention of our digital cameras most of the time for her first swim in a pool and the sea. The minilux lens is extremely sharp, looking at the scans at 100% it would be difficult to bet between the 40mm f2.4 and the 35mmf2 asph for the M. I think I need a UK trip to try out some of the new velvia 50. Regards, Lincoln |
