Re: Where did you take your Leica today
Hello,
I am new to the forum and I just bought my first Leica today at a garage sale. The Leica IIIa comes with a 3.5 Elmar lens and the serial number is : 262011. I have wanted a Leica for years and am excited that finally I get to use one. The cost of the camera was $50.00 and it is cleaning up very well. I believe that I have problem or I just don't understand the instructions for pulling the lens out. Turn slightly to the right and pull? I have tried that and the lens appears to be rock solid. Can someone please advise me? Regards, Fanuja |

If you are trying to extend a collapsable lens you need to just pull is out THEN turn slightly to the right. If you are trying to take the lens off you just unscrew the entire lens. (Righty tighty lefty loosy)
This IS a 50mm Elmar right? It it's a 35 it does not extend. Best wishes Dan |

If the lens has been on the body, unused for years, you might try a little lubricating oil applied using a Q-tip around the base of the lens and let sit for a few minutes. Then try unscrewing it. I did this for a friend last year with his father's III.

I finally figured out that the lens is indeed a 35mm, so that explains why it won't pull out. Now on to the next part which is trying to get the lens to unscrew.
