Default Old Leitz Film Cassette with film in it. Help!!!

I bought a Leitz Film Cassette and one of them has film in it.
Now I'm currious if there are old images that can be salvaged in the roll, considering the age. "If there are images".

I need recommendations of what developer, dilution, time, temp, agitation.

This is what I currently have. (working solution)
Xtol, Tmax, Rodinal, HC110, Edwal FG7

I have this but still in the pack.
Fujidol, Microphen, Acufine, D76.

Thanks for your advise!

-Ron

All I see is above the perforated sprocket guide is 293 H92297.
The emulsion is gray in color.

Ron as you don't know the film the best option is to take a clip test of about 4-6 frames

Thanks Mark and Chris,

I'll try your suggestions and let's hope there are images in the roll.

Thanks again!

Keep us posted.
I have seen a blog by a photographer who makes a speciality of obtaining old cameras with film in, developing the images, and in some cases tracking down where and when they were taken and even who was on them.

I'll do that Chris.

I got it from eBay and the cassette don't even fit my M3. But what I'm really after is the film. =)
Maybe one day I'll buy a Leica II so I can join the Barnack Challenge.

Cheers,
-Ron

Since you had nothing before, an appropriate attitude might be one that permits experimentation understanding that there is risk, but "nothing ventured, nothing gained". So, if you blow it, what's the loss?

If there is anything recoverable, it will most likely be foggy and have very low contrast.

The fog can be minimized by adding benzotriazole (anti fog #1); typical usage would be something like 15ml of 0.2% solution per liter. You can get benz... from some of the specialty chemistry sources like Photographers Formulary, Bostick and Sullivan here in the US. I don't know about other countries.

As far as the contrast is concerned, longer development times would be suggested, but in giving the extended time, the fog will be encouraged. It would probably be best to use a developer having inherently high contrast, such as maybe D-19. Of course, these aren't "fine grain" at all, but you aren't going to get fine grain regardless of what you do. I don't know whether anything like D-19 is available in prepackaged form but it isn't hard to mix if you have a scale.

My books are in my office, and I'm at home. If you are interested in any formulas, let me know and I'll look them up. For a general reference for stuff like this, I'd recommend Wall and Jordan, _Photographic Facts and Formulas_. It is long out of print, but used copies can be found. I suspect that they cover this topic.

There is a fellow who goes by the name of "Gene M" who might be able to assist. HIs webpage is here:

He also frequents the "Found Film forum" over at Nelsonfoto. You can post your question there as well:
