Default M3 skin problem

The black 'skin' on my lovely M3 has become so britle that one piece broke off from the front of the camera this weekend, leaving an unseemly hole in the skin.

Does anyone know if there is someone who will repair this by putting on a new skin, with a high standard of skill, at a reasonable cost, and preferably in the UK...

Thanks

Do it yourself ! (or ask your wife/girlfriend)

Depending on your M3 version:
http://aki-asahi.com/store/html/M3_buddha/index.php

http://aki-asahi.com/store/html/M3_r...bble/index.php

and how to do it:
Leica M3 covering installation

Have fun!

as an alternative (just in case you would like to change from vulcanite to leather with a similar structure, or to something completely different) i would suggest CameraLeather.com Custom camera leather and leatherette.
great fun dealing with them, nice people over there!

I can highly recommend Aki Asahi. He will also do special coverings, like M3 Buddha ears without selftimer and without finder select lever. All for the same US$ 19 shipped.
It's an easy DIY job.

I second Rik's suggestion of DIY. I have recovered a few Ms myself and, before I resolved to try it, I have also paid a camera tech to do it for me. After finding out how straight-forward it was, I found the procedure to be very satisfying. I have used Aki's skins and cameraleather's coverings; both were well cut and no problem to install. The installation takes 5 to 10 mins at the most. It removal is the slow job where you have to take your time, be thorough and careful. But there is no special tool or knowledge needed. You can PM me if you'd like to ask me any questions.
