Advertisement Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Hi lphong, Take a look here M6 classic or M6 Titanium?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted February 15, 2008 Share #2 Posted February 15, 2008 If you want to do it, do it. It's your camera and money not ours. Remember that the titanium is only a coating, the body shell isn't solid titanium.
RITskellar Posted February 15, 2008 Share #3 Posted February 15, 2008 No, no, no. Black means business. Titanium is just for the bling. Both are very nice, either way. Cheers, Andy
bill Posted February 15, 2008 Share #4 Posted February 15, 2008 Honestly? Daft. Don't waste your money. Be satisfied with what you have. Regards, Bill
coston Posted February 15, 2008 Share #5 Posted February 15, 2008 Have owned both and still have the black M6. If it tells you anything I do not regret selling the titanium--as I have for other cameras like a Rolleiflex and a Plaubel. I also found myself tempted by titanium lenses when I had the titanium M6 and that was nothing more than a distraction--i see now. the titanium was heavier, and actually I don't miss that either. rob_x2004 Posted February 15, 2008 Share #6 Posted February 15, 2008 Sure why not if you can get some titanium colour lenses to go with it. I'd use one. I dont have one but, and am not likely to fork out for one either. I think there are some titanium MPs out there too if you have the bucks to consider them. earleygallery Posted February 15, 2008 Share #7 Posted February 15, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'd like one of the gold plated editions with the lizard skin covering. But why oh why oh why don't Leica make any other lenses in gold? I simply could not live with putting some cheap black lens on the gold plated body.
lphong Posted February 16, 2008 Author Share #8 Posted February 16, 2008 Muh...looks like getting a M6 titanium isn't a wise move:(
rob_x2004 Posted February 16, 2008 Share #9 Posted February 16, 2008 You can hardly say it isnt a wise move. Few Leicas are wise moves, you get them because that is what you want, and you said you always wanted a titanium. If James was the Sultan of Brunei doubtless he could have all the gold plated M6's, lenses and acessories he wanted, and then some more for all his mates. No, I'd have solid gold ones made up, and they'd be covered with the hide of some race horse that I'd grown tired of. The matching lenses would be jewell encrusted, with a large ruby in place of the nasty plastic red dot.
elansprint72 Posted February 16, 2008 Share #11 Posted February 16, 2008 Strange how you never see James and the Sultan of Brunei in the same room.

That's exactly why I bought my M6 Titanium, it's very simple, not because I NEED it but because I WANT it... Probably unwise decision but honestly I never regret it... Guest moonwrack Posted February 18, 2008 Share #16 Posted February 18, 2008 I got an M6 Titanium recently. I'ts very attractive - of course - and it takes pictures just as well as any other M6. The strange embossed decoration on the leather covering is, however, disquietingly flamboyant. So I'll sell it......

I guess you know that it won't improve anything in your photography, it'll just be a different fondling feeling. Are you planning to replace the lenses also for Titanium ones? If so then hope you have the dollars ready..... Buy it if you want it, but for me, this type of question just makes me want to say "forget it, go and shoot more, and get some REAL satisfaction from making some photographs" No offense intended but well....you know. Muh, a very good point! Danke schön! haha, no offense was taken! I couldn't make up my mind because I want the M6 titanium as it looks quite 'fun', but I think that's quite pointless deep down in my mind. Craftsman Posted February 18, 2008 Share #19 Posted February 18, 2008 There are a 35-50- and 90 mm lens on the auction site in Titanium and they are at least a third if not more that the same lenses in Black. Nice but a high price to pay for a finish.
Half-Handed Posted February 18, 2008 Share #20 Posted February 18, 2008 I'd give my eye teeth to be able to afford any kind of M6, sorry I can't be more sympathetic to your awful predicament
