colonel Posted December 15, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 15, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi I need to test a new M7 before travel and thus need to turn around processing on colour really fast this week Any suggestions of either London lab or quick turn around UK post service ? Sorry for the ignorant question as I have been out of film for sometime but now want to get back in in a big way Lastly a related question. In terms of processingn and scanning what are your UK suggestions for a good value quality service for colour C41 ? I used to use peak imaging but would be open to any suggestions Thanks in advance Rgds
Advertisement Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Hi colonel, Take a look here 1. Best quality and 2. Fastest colour processing in London. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wattsy Posted December 15, 2014 Share #2 Posted December 15, 2014 As far as I know Metro still do same day C41 developing though I think they need 24hrs or longer for a contact print. You will pay a price there (especially for the scanning side) but the quality is usually top notch. There are still bog standard minilabs around – I've been using my local Asda for cheap and cheerful C41 dev/scan at £3 a go. I wouldn't bother with a postal service if you are in a hurry – especially at this time of year.
250swb Posted December 15, 2014 Share #3 Posted December 15, 2014 C41 ? I used to use peak imaging but would be open to any suggestions Congratulations on the new camera. Don't know about fast turn around in London but for future C41 processing I recommend Peak, or do-it-yourself. Steve

Many thanks just spoke to Metro, seem like a real pro outfit Will probably use them a few times but not for everything, as you say they are quite pricey just noticed ApertureUK have a 48 hour services for C41 + high res scan + 6x4 prints, only £14 !! (£12 with low res scan and £8 no printing ...). Wonder if they are good rgds
gbealnz Posted December 15, 2014 Share #5 Posted December 15, 2014 Not sure how deep your talking with "testing", but if it were me I'd buy a roll from them, shoot it at or near the shop and get it processed only. The strip should show what you are looking for, spacing, exposure etc. Focus you could check from the negs once home, with a loupe. Jon Warwick Posted December 16, 2014 Share #6 Posted December 16, 2014 Metro is a pro lab in London. Some huge names have been their clients over the years.
colonel Posted December 17, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted December 17, 2014 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Just found out that snappy snaps in wardour street still do 1 hour processing. In addition they have a whole range of scanning and processing options. Really interesting, will use them for my testing films based on sheer speed. Then the remaining question is who should I use for my actual important photos when I get back from holiday. Metro appeals as there is no chance of it being lost in the post but I think the cost would be huge. Perhaps I will revert to peak again. There are loads of mail order services but this outfit is intriguing as they post scans for download, anyone used or heard of them ?: http://ukfilmlab.com Edited December 17, 2014 by colonel
wattsy Posted December 17, 2014 Share #8 Posted December 17, 2014 I think Pete "Stealth" is going to give UKfilmlab a whirl at some point – I'll be interested to hear what their scans are like. One of the nice things about using film is the range of options and the trial and error involved in trying different films, labs, doing it yourself, etc.
Jon Warwick Posted December 17, 2014 Share #9 Posted December 17, 2014 I have only had excellent experiences with Peak too, producing immaculate negs and E6 for me to date. For important films, I tend to use special delivery both ways to make the post aspect more secure.
bruniroquai Posted December 26, 2014 Share #10 Posted December 26, 2014 Very happy with then I think is the best I've ever tried: C41/ Black&White/E6 Processing plus Develop and Contact : Blaze Image Ltd
chris_livsey Posted December 29, 2014 Share #11 Posted December 29, 2014 There are loads of mail order services but this outfit is intriguing as they post scans for download, anyone used or heard of them ?: UK Film Lab | Professional Film Processing and Scanning I have used them for medium format, top quality scans and service, had feedback that one of my backs (500c/m) was not spacing evenly !! Not the fastest around but I will use them again. Scans on my flickr as below are tagged with UK Film lab, no commercial connection other than they take my money to do their job.
