Help: dust in my m2's viewfinder

Hi Friends:

Last week I bught a M2 in mint condition. After some test it seems to work properly, though the shutter speed at 1/1000 may have some problem since I sometimes get uneven eposure at that speed.

To my surprise, yesterday I found some dusts in the viewfinder (I remember they were not there when I bought it). As I look through the finder I can see them. One sits on the yellow squre patch and does not move as I focus the lens. Are dusts in viewfinder normal for a used M2? Is it serious? I remember that I read somewhere the viewfinder of M3/M2/M4 are sealed very well no dust can came in.

Your opinions are welcome.

Best regards,

Frank

It isn't serious but is annoying. An M2 is an old camera, and it isn't sealed so dust can get in from many directions and I guess some just got shaken out onto the viewfinder as you used it. The seller couldn't have anticipated it. So you either live with it, have it cleaned out by a camera technician, or learn how to take the top plate off yourself to do the job.

It is improbable that dust could have appeared in a week's time. I agree with Steve, but will add that dust in the finder can have no effect on the pictures that the camera takes.

Yes, I am also surprized that dusts appeared so quickly. They might had already existed somewhere in the head section and were shaked into the path of light as Steve proposed. I cleaned the space for film cartridge with an air blower but I cannot imagine that it can blow dusts into the viewfinder.

Thanks, Steve. If it is not serious I will consider to clean it when I have somebody to do CLA for my camera sometime.
