Tor1Amos Posted January 15, 2014 Share #1 Posted January 15, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) When finishing a roll of film and its time to rewind, the R-lever is to be pointing to the "R". With my M6 the lever wont stay, but has to be held at place when rewinding the film. Some times it stays put pop up again as soon as I start to rewind the film. Major issue, and a warning for whats coming up next (not be able to rewind at all)? - or a small fix?

Michael Hiles Posted January 15, 2014 Share #2 Posted January 15, 2014 A cleaning might help. This is not an area that is likely to wear significantly.
Tor1Amos Posted January 15, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted January 15, 2014 A cleaning might help. This is not an area that is likely to wear significantly. Cleaning? Ok - but to clean the mechanism of the R-lever I will have to remove the top of the camera. Its not much to clean on the outside. Anywa - it seems to be a mechanical issue - the spring do not lock into place when the lever is moved.

I was thinking of a professional cleaning by a technician who would take the top off and clean and lubricate everything at the same time - not a job for an untrained person. Cleaning the exterior wouldn't help, I don't think. But I am no expert - just speculation.
250swb Posted January 15, 2014 Share #5 Posted January 15, 2014 Assess the price of a CLA against the cost of keeping your thumb or finger on the R lever as you rewind. You may be surprised how much you can pay for so little. Some people, not all, think that they will wait for something really important to go wrong before sending a camera for a CLA and in the meantime use a spare digit as a stop gap. Tor1Amos Posted January 17, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted January 17, 2014 Thank you all. This is a camera offered for me to buy. Guess it aint gonna happen. My thumb do not take damage of holding the R-lever in place when rewinding, but it is an issue. Regards
