earleygallery Posted June 20, 2011 Share #1 Posted June 20, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) For all the merchants of doom out there who said Leica would never release another new film M Leica M Special Editions | Leica OK so the differences are (mostly?) cosmetic, but then so is the M9-P. It's not clear how many in total they are making, but clearly they wouldn't bother if they didn't know they would sell.

andybarton Posted June 20, 2011 Share #2 Posted June 20, 2011 They have made 20 of the M3P / Noctilux sets.
earleygallery Posted June 20, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted June 20, 2011 They have made 20 of the M3P / Noctilux sets. I've seen the same number quoted on different websites, so it might be 20 per dealer, or country or ?..........Same number for the M9-P (a lot of people might be very disappointed!). I recall the same 'confusion' when the first limited edition DLux came out, some people bought them then complained when they realised the number of limited editions wasn't 500 in total but per country! Hi If they are making 20 M3P kit sets clearly they have some way of getting 20x Noct as well wonder how they do that, i.e. of one has had one on order already will one get ones Noct before an order of an M3P gets their Noct. Sorry Noel

jacarape Posted June 24, 2011 Share #8 Posted June 24, 2011 It looks like an MP with "frames" around the windows. We discussed this nice look on the I Love my MP thread. Nice looking camera.
Nick_S Posted June 25, 2011 Share #9 Posted June 25, 2011 I am curious how the M3-P differs from the MP3. The MP3 has an external frame counter like the M2, and old M3 style strap lugs. Nick
andym911 Posted June 25, 2011 Share #10 Posted June 25, 2011 But the Nocti looks clumsy don't you think? andy
hhanebeck Posted June 26, 2011 Share #11 Posted June 26, 2011 Does anyone know how much these two special editions cost? With the silver Noct they ought to be at least $18K ... so, how much was the markup for collectors? Cheers, Chris
NZDavid Posted June 27, 2011 Share #12 Posted June 27, 2011 That black SE M9 looks like an original "anti-panda" with its chrome dials. And it has a chrome lens! I thought fashionistas often said that wasn't allowed, despite the fact the LTMs often used this combo.
Nikkor AIS Posted June 27, 2011 Share #13 Posted June 27, 2011 I was the one who made a thread on the next Leica film camera and man did I take some heat on that thread. It's good to see Leica Film M's are alive and kicking. Gregory
luigi bertolotti Posted June 27, 2011 Share #14 Posted June 27, 2011 But the Nocti looks clumsy don't you think? andy ... no rational observations can be made about... "limited series of a limited production lens - and is a Noctilux !" : no more to say...

NB23 Posted June 28, 2011 Share #17 Posted June 28, 2011 I am waiting for the 3-MP. It will probably have square strap lugs and... that's about it.
plasticman Posted June 28, 2011 Share #18 Posted June 28, 2011 (edited) I agree the silver Noctilux looks a little over-dimensioned on the elegant body - so if Leicashop ring and offer me one of these for free (I'm a former customer) I will probably say no thankyou. (*on reflection I thought it was safer to add - irony). Edited June 28, 2011 by plasticman

Hope you're well. Regards, Marcus Agree! I recently saw a thread on RFF where Gregory had posted a mixture of film and M9 shots. Don't tell him I said so, but the M9 images simply weren't as good. He'll see it himself, given time.
