Leica R7

I recently inquired about a Leica APO-Macro Elmarit-R 100/2.8 on sale in a camerashop about 125 km from where I live.

The price was reasonable, so I offered to buy the lens; the shop owner asked if I was interested in the camera sold with the lens.

It was a Leica R7; not the most sought-after Leica, but he offered me the camera with the lens at a very attractive price.

So, yesterday morning a box arrived, and in addition to the lens (which was absolutely pristine, bordering on as-new, fully boxed and with all original papers and now awaits a Nikon F-mount from leitax.com), this was in the box:

That's an (almost) as-new Leica R7, winder and handgrip and original Leica focusing bellows. All almost as new, with boxes and apparently all original papers, including Leica warranties and pass.

I tried the R7 with the APO-100, Oh My!!! what a wonderfull viewfinder, great feel and delicious shutter sound!

Unfortunately, i do not intent to shoot analogue, so this will all go to evilBay, unless someone in this forum would like to buy it.

Feel free to PM me with any suggestions (or put an offer in this thread, if you prefer).

Thanks guys; I knnow it's world class. The touchy-feely quality of this set is briliant - in one wild moment I even considered re-converting some of my Leica R-lenses to use with this camera. It really is that nice...

I'll probably put it in classified; what do ou think would be fair price? I know good R7s sell for around €400 on eBay on a good day, the winder and handgrip perhaps for around €150-200. I know there is a similar bellows for sale in the US for $1,000 but that is excessive.

I'd keep that R7 & sell the drive, handgrip & bellows. Put a roll of Tri X in it & go shoot. After you see the prints you'll make a more informed decision. Either way, you get a chance to see what it's all about. I loved my R7. A very fine camera. I have 3 R8's & can't imagine being without them. Shooting film is essential from my standpoint. It keeps you centered & focused on the underlying dynamics of light & image capture in a unique way. Since it didn't cost you anything, look at as an oracle. Good Luck. Ben

Good points and I totally agree with the focusing on the essentials by - to some extend - slowing down the processes.

Unfortunately, I don't expect to actually shoot analogue, so it would just be sitting in the closet. I would rather see someone actually using it.
