Is that the MP that looks exactly like an M2 from 1958? And he designed it having been born in 1954?

I am dubious, to say the least.

Lost in Translation - It was Tokyo after all.
Michael Comte did however have six of his photographs included in the Leica MP Brochure.

Michel Comte was the offical MP promoter when the camera first came out. Maybe he participated also at the final design of the MP, thinking with the Leica design team what the MP as to be , the last mechanical rangefinder .

Aha, and what exactly is the difference in design between the "last mechanical rangefinder" a.k.a. MP and one of the very first Leica Ms? There is just one that springs to my mind, which is the MP-type body covering, and I am not particularly fond of that, to put it mildly.

Hi

Excellent but the comparison should be between an M3 (or M2) and a MP, The M2 had a simplified finder as well as different frame lines and mag, the M2 or M3 will be old, know the feeling well..

Nothing like giving yourself a pat on the back for a design that been around for awhile. Thats like putting mud flaps on your car and taking credit for it's design. The mans a legend in his own mind.

I don't know the guy at all but I doubt a photographer would be responsible for those kinds of decisions. Maybe he suggested that Leica should use the metal film advance lever and knob rewind, as a preference, but the rest...........

I wonder what else this photographer has 'designed' ?
