Remarkable 3D Stereo in Lightroom

Recommended Posts

Made a beaut discovery in Lightroom Library Module, compare images.I get amazing clear perfect 3D, Stereo screaming image pairs.

Try taking some simple stereo pairs….just take two pictures of everything, hand held is fine…and compare view. Take your pictures with just a little lateral movement…as little as a few centimetres.Wider spacing for more dramatic stereo separation.

By coincidence Lightroom has made a perfect 3D viewer.

I haven’t found anything on the net using this feature for Lightroom Compare 3D (shall we call it? )

Thanks, good idea.

You know the free software StereoPhoto Maker?

Jan

Thanks Jan for your comments. I was beginning to worry everyone had forgotten about 3D and stereo imagery. It used to be huge.

Yes have taken many 3D images and made stereo viewers, etc. The "cha-cha" method of taking two images works best...a tripod even better! I've seen and used programs, but this works without any processing at all!

It just adds such a new dimension to viewing images... as I'm already in Lightroom for sorting, processing, etc.

Especially this way. I've looked at many images I've taken as pairs over the last few days. The Lightroom controls in Compare images are so ideal, and make everything pop, with a capital "P".

I'm just so surprised at the seemingly complete lack of interest.

Perhaps Forum members have trouble seeing 3D using the unfortunate term "cross-eyed method"

Again thanks for your encouragement.

cheers Dave S :)

We do have some nice threads on stereo photography, but not recent ones. Personally, I'm quite fond of a software called XstereO Player for stereo viewing. I also use (from time to time, meaning "rarely") a digital stereo camera by Fuji which sports a very nice 3D display.

Thanks Philipp, for your ideal contribution. Some really great stuff in your link.

It is so easy to take two pictures in the field. And my main point is...it is so easy to use our commonest image sorter/browser/ editor...Lightroom. It just "Pop"s :p

Thanks again.

cheers Dave S :)

The problem is, that there are too many standards.

I alone use for photos:

1. anaglyph

2. for the TV-set: side by side but compressed and small file

3. for a small TV-set with 3d vision: side by side but very small files only

4. Viewmaster

Further there are several other procedures, I know of.

I like anaglyph most, because everybody can see the effect.

Here one for the forum (5. anaglyph: small file).

This is a most impressive specimen. I agree that anaglyphs are readily viewable by people, even without any training. However, not everyone has the proper couple of filters handy, and the colors do suffer.

There is a file format which can hold a stereo pair which is recognized by TV sets. The Fuji stereo camera produces its images in that format. The file format is recognized by its extension ".mpo" ("Multi Picture Object", it appears).

I (my eyes/brain) have problems with cross- and parallel view.

I cannot synchronize the two pictures well.

There are specs for this phenomena as my ophthalmologist says.

With pola- and shutter specs I don´t have problems.

Last year I have bought 50 red/cyan specs for 25 Euro. Often, you can get them for free.

OK, there must be one available in the cupboard.

Another older one from a museum in Rom.

Here and there there is a head too much.:)

Parts of this picture work also very well, in spite of using the D-Lux4.

With one camera one gets static pictures only, that is a pity.

My father worked with a Viewmaster camera and the camera of Jules Richard (I forget the name).

But I don´t start with film again.

Fuji makes (or used to make) a very nice digital stereo camera with a distance of roughly 7cm between the pair. This camera even takes stereo movies which you can view on your TV using the specs that came with the TV. The display on its back shows the image in 3D without any additional paraphernalia and without any user training.

It appears that Panasonic made one, as well, but with a narrower base which would make it better suited for close-up work. I own one and have never seen the other, however.

The stereo Elmar (?) should work on an M quite well, I think, but it is a bit on the expensive side.

The name is Verascope. The IQ was not super. The mechanic was very good. It took slides of 24 x 30 mm.

pop

Two M´s or T´s coupled would not be bad too.
