When preparing to import from card in computer slot, Lightroom's Import panel shows the card's images all in a jumble, with older and new images intermixed. There's no order to the sequence I can detect. It used to be that the files on the card would appear sequentially in the order taken. Although there is no "View" menu in the Import screen, your comment prompted me to scan every inch of that panel--and guess what I found! There's a dropdown "Sort"menu to the right of center at the bottom of that screen. AFAIK, this is new in LR 5.7, and I had overlooked it. Your suggestion solved my problem!
