Just received C-One 8 update. Never been very fond of L-Room so wondered if I jumped for C-8. Your thoughts ? Jamie ?

So far so good but there are enough differences it is like starting over.
esquire53 Posted September 17, 2014 Share #3 Posted September 17, 2014 the workflow and the use of cursor tools is a bit odd, just download the C1-8 to give it a try. I use C1-7 a lot but would like to see the improved cursor tools usage. the raw converter is very good. I often use C1 as converter and do most in Aperture, still to me the best for managing files and output Uwe
nggalai Posted September 18, 2014 Share #4 Posted September 18, 2014 Depends a bit what you expect of a RAW converter. RAW file -> basic adjustments -> process to TIFF -> Photoshop? Do as much as possible inside the converter, use Photoshop only sporadically? Manage your images, not just process files? Order photo books and fill up your flickr account from inside the RAW converter? Work in tandem with other RAW converters, e.g. for Sigma DP files? etc. Personally, I’ve switched from Lightroom to Capture One a couple of years ago, and have been in the beta team for CO8. So it’s obvious I’ll tell you to give it a shot, because Capture One is bloody great. But in the end, you need to know what you want, what you need, and what you are prepared to invest in time and money (Capture One Pro isn’t the cheapest software around). So the main question is – why exactly haven’t you been fond of Lightroom? Quality, user interface / paradigm, pricing …? Cheers, -Sascha
sblitz Posted September 18, 2014 Share #5 Posted September 18, 2014 Upgrading to C1-8 from 7. Love 7 relative to LR, believe that more recent upgrades to 7 deliver a cleaner high iso shot from my m9 as well. Seems so anyway. Begs question that I believe you may be alluding to -- namely that in the process from sensor capture to computer the RAW converter counts for a lot, perhaps more than the software in the camera converting the sensor data into an image to be downloaded.

Cheers, -Sascha LR 4 (the one I used) was clearly inferior in converting RAW files respective to CO6 or 7 (discussed in its toime here with Jamie). LR5 : just tried it, more usability than LR4 in editing. Still, I cannot pinpoint exactly why, but CO editing interface always seems sleeker to me (especially color editing, which I find much more convenient than LR's or CC14). And yes, usually I'm finishing editing in CC14 for a few tweaks like high pass and so on.
erl Posted September 22, 2014 Share #7 Posted September 22, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been convinced for some time of the superiority of C1. Ver 7 is great. Just downloaded ver. 8 only to find something in my computer is blocking my profile from C1! Two other programs also suffering similar. I need a teenager to sort it out for me. Very frustrating.
