pico Posted June 4, 2014 Share #1 Posted June 4, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Normally I use Photoshop, but due to a personal mission for freeware and shareware I have been working with LightZone, and find it very interesting. It even supports Leica's DNG. http://lightzoneproject.org You do have to register before downloading (free), but email confirmation is instant.
Advertisement Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Hi pico, Take a look here LightZone. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LeicaBraz Posted June 4, 2014 Share #2 Posted June 4, 2014 Thanks. Unfortunately it doesn't handle Monochrom files.
pico Posted June 4, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted June 4, 2014 Thanks. Unfortunately it doesn't handle Monochrom files. Interesting. I will find a Monochrom DNG to download and try. I am fairly confidant I can find a way to make it work.
bcentsale Posted June 16, 2014 Share #4 Posted June 16, 2014 I took a look at Lightzone last year but the Mac version was only in beta. I've since become a pretty big fan of Digikam myself. It has a lot of Lightroom or Aperture-like functionality, including the Kipi editing plugins.
sanyasi Posted June 17, 2014 Share #5 Posted June 17, 2014 Never used light zone. If you can find a setting, you might change the monochrm file to rgb or change its bit setting
Nick_S Posted August 8, 2014 Share #6 Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) Thanks. Unfortunately it doesn't handle Monochrom files. I am also taking a serious look at Lightzone which looks like it might be a nice way to develop black and white images taken with the Monochrom, working directly with the Zone system rather than curves will be interesting. The Lightzone current development version is V4.1 Beta 9 which says "Updated DCRaw to v9.21 (1.463)". As the current version of DCRaw v9.22 indicates support for the Monchrom, the next time Lightzone is updated for DCRaw we should expect to see the Monochrom DNG file conversion incorporated. mirekti Posted August 9, 2014 Share #7 Posted August 9, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) It looks promising, yet it renders reds similar to Lightroom in other words too much magenta. I will try to play with it a bit more though. Thanks for the link.
