duotone loses color on iPad ??

Have just begun experimenting with creating a duotone in Photoshop. Image saves fine on the iMac and looks fine on the screen, but when I transfer it to iPad, it comes through as black-and-white.

Wha hoppen?

More specifically: I first converted the image to monochrome, then choose a duotone color. At this point, the image couldn’t be saved as JPG, so I saved it as PSD, a format the iPad recognizes. Nonetheless, the color is missing on the iPad.

Why does that happen? Any solution come to mind?

Thanks in advance.

Make sure the B&W file is in RGB (or sRGB but not Greyscale) while you are working on it, flatten any layers, convert it to 8 bit, and you should be able to save it as a JPEG (ideally a 16 bit TIFF if you aren't going to be web posting). I can see duotone on my iPad so it is saving the file as a PSD that is the problem.

Sorry it took me so long to get back.

Jaap--The file opens as a duotone in Photoshop. But when I open it in Preview, it's black-and-white, just as on the iPad.

Steve, Sandy--You're right. Had to convert from duotone back to RGB. That enables saving it as a JPG, and the file transfers fine as a two-color file to the iPad.

Thanks to all for your insights!
