thanks for the comments I would be interested in what you use to print I have ppc G5 running 10.4 a MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 which does not run lightroom 5 a mac air running 10.8 and I use an epson photo 2100 for prints and a photo 1200 as an every day printer and an epson 4870 scanner but getting drivers is a problem as stated before I have just sorted drivers for 10.8 and don't wish to go through it again.

cheers Keith

I'm stuck on Lion til I get round to upgrading my 7 y.o. Mac Pro, so can offer no experience-based suggestions, but the cautionary note about Mavericks' auto-updating of drivers in the first post in this LuLa thread seems worth noting on the basis of recent experience with Epson drivers and OS X. May have some relevance to other printers too, I expect

Has anyone upgraded to apple latest operating system and if so are there any issues with lightroom 5 and printer drivers . I have 2 old epson printers which I have just sorted drivers for in 10.8 so do not wish to go through that exercise again.

cheers Keith

Are you using Epson printers though?

I updated to Mavericks on a 4 y.o. iMac and 2 y.o. MB Air.

Only problem with drivers was my Epson V600 scanner -- I had to go to the Epson site and download the latest, post-Mavericks version, then all okay. I have a 10 y.o. Canon IP5000 printer which continues to work fine.

The only noticeable problem with Mavericks that I have experienced, and seen reported elsewhere, is that the 'improved' Apple Mail client does not do full IMAP sync with Gmail as it should. Still quite usable but inconvenient. Apparently a fix is expected from Apple shortly.

Otherwise my only question about Mavericks is: what's new and better? Nothing visible to me in daily use. Only cosmetic changes.

PS LR 5.2 also fine

I had problems with my Epson 3800 after downloading the newest drivers from Epson for Mavericks. Epson stated in their FAQ that I should not use the Apple software update, which in my case (Jan 30th 2014) turned out wrong; after downloading an extra update from Apple for Epson, my Epson 3800 prints like a whistle again.

There were some big changes for multiple screens. You can now use each screen in full screen mode. Previously full screen mode would leave one monitor unused/unusable. There have been some small issues with Mail and very very slight instability with iTunes on some of our machines.

I would like to see Adobe embrace full screen mode on the mac as it I use it to flip between applications all the time and Lightroom takes up a lot of space on what is effectively the desktop now.

Mavericks also uses less energy running programs which are not displayed on screen, i.e. their windows are covered by other windows. This allows laptops to save battery power.
