keithd Posted October 28, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 28, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone upgraded to apple latest operating system and if so are there any issues with lightroom 5 and printer drivers . I have 2 old epson printers which I have just sorted drivers for in 10.8 so do not wish to go through that exercise again. cheers Keith
Advertisement Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Hi keithd, Take a look here Apple Mavericks. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rjans Posted October 28, 2013 Share #2 Posted October 28, 2013 I have no issues with Lightroom 5.2, however have no experience with printers. I only print from an older Mac. Best
keithd Posted October 29, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted October 29, 2013 thanks for the comments I would be interested in what you use to print I have ppc G5 running 10.4 a MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 which does not run lightroom 5 a mac air running 10.8 and I use an epson photo 2100 for prints and a photo 1200 as an every day printer and an epson 4870 scanner but getting drivers is a problem as stated before I have just sorted drivers for 10.8 and don't wish to go through it again. cheers Keith
Jim-St Posted October 29, 2013 Share #4 Posted October 29, 2013 (edited) I'm stuck on Lion til I get round to upgrading my 7 y.o. Mac Pro, so can offer no experience-based suggestions, but the cautionary note about Mavericks' auto-updating of drivers in the first post in this LuLa thread seems worth noting on the basis of recent experience with Epson drivers and OS X. May have some relevance to other printers too, I expect Jim Edited October 29, 2013 by Jim-St
algrove Posted October 29, 2013 Share #5 Posted October 29, 2013 Guess I had better wait until it seems OK since I use an Epson 3880 for all my printing.

stevelap Posted October 29, 2013 Share #9 Posted October 29, 2013 Updated to Mavericks on a 3yr old Mac Pro, working fine so far, likewise for my HP printer with updated driver. I don't use Lightroom though.
Paul Reading Posted October 30, 2013 Share #10 Posted October 30, 2013 I would like an updated remote software for my Digilux 2 so that I can use it tethered.
rob_w Posted November 6, 2013 Share #11 Posted November 6, 2013 (edited) I updated to Mavericks on a 4 y.o. iMac and 2 y.o. MB Air. Only problem with drivers was my Epson V600 scanner -- I had to go to the Epson site and download the latest, post-Mavericks version, then all okay. I have a 10 y.o. Canon IP5000 printer which continues to work fine. The only noticeable problem with Mavericks that I have experienced, and seen reported elsewhere, is that the 'improved' Apple Mail client does not do full IMAP sync with Gmail as it should. Still quite usable but inconvenient. Apparently a fix is expected from Apple shortly. Otherwise my only question about Mavericks is: what's new and better? Nothing visible to me in daily use. Only cosmetic changes. PS LR 5.2 also fine Edited November 6, 2013 by rob_w
rob_w Posted November 8, 2013 Share #12 Posted November 8, 2013 Update: This morning Apple provided an update to their Mail program to fix the Gmail sync issue.
otto.f Posted January 30, 2014 Share #13 Posted January 30, 2014 I had problems with my Epson 3800 after downloading the newest drivers from Epson for Mavericks. Epson stated in their FAQ that I should not use the Apple software update, which in my case (Jan 30th 2014) turned out wrong; after downloading an extra update from Apple for Epson, my Epson 3800 prints like a whistle again. Only cosmetic changes. PS LR 5.2 also fine There were some big changes for multiple screens. You can now use each screen in full screen mode. Previously full screen mode would leave one monitor unused/unusable. There have been some small issues with Mail and very very slight instability with iTunes on some of our machines. I would like to see Adobe embrace full screen mode on the mac as it I use it to flip between applications all the time and Lightroom takes up a lot of space on what is effectively the desktop now. Mavericks also uses less energy running programs which are not displayed on screen, i.e. their windows are covered by other windows. This allows laptops to save battery power. jip Posted February 4, 2014 Share #15 Posted February 4, 2014 No problem at all 10.9 is a big improvement over the sloppy and very buggy 10.7 and 10.
