Lightroom - M9 Subscription

Has anyone confirmed whether the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom subscription that is included with M9s may be used by one other than the M9 owner? Leica's website goes through the protocol of obtaining LR, but says that you must provide the S/N of the registered Leica camera it will be used with as well as its product code. I use Aperture and would like to give away or sell my LR subscription.

Here is the legalese from the EULA

 

4.4 No Transfer. YOU MAY NOT RENT, LEASE, SELL, SUBLICENSE, ASSIGN OR TRANSFER YOUR RIGHTS IN THE SOFTWARE, OR AUTHORIZE ANY PORTION OF THE SOFTWARE TO BE COPIED ONTO ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL OR LEGAL ENTITY'S COMPUTER EXCEPT AS MAY BE PERMITTED HEREIN. You may, however, transfer all your rights to use the Software to another individual or legal entity provided that: (a) you also transfer (i) this agreement, (ii) the serial number(s), the Software and all other software or hardware bundled, packaged or pre-installed with the Software, including all copies, upgrades, updates and prior versions, and (iii) all copies of font software converted into other formats to such individual or entity; ( you retain no upgrades, updates or copies, including backups and copies stored on a computer; and © the receiving party accepts the terms and conditions of this agreement and any other terms and conditions under which you purchased a valid license to the Software. Thanks, Geoff. I'm used to reading this type of stuff - legal mumbo jumbo, as we say.

I'm concerned about the Leica side rather than the Adobe side - in order to access the Adobe D/L site and link on Leica's owners' site, you need to provide the camera for which LR will be licensed. My M9 serial no. was in the drop down menu there. That sounds really silly - limiting software to one camera. I doubt it's correct form Adobe's perspective.

I'll follow up with Leica.

Rich my understanding on the camera serial number and TAN provision to Leica Camera is that it is to reduce or prevent fraud where people could guess serial numbers to obtain a benefit.

 

The point is that there is no new nor different EULA nor version of Lightroom for M9 or S2 or X1 owners. It is not in any way tied to camera type or serial number, those are just the mechanism to limit fraud and prove your entitlement in the first place. Once Leica Camera provides that serial number and you use it validate any copy of Lightroom your contract is entirely with Adobe, the same as is the case for any other customer there.

Don't know if this helps, but I put Lightroom on both my Macbook Pro and on my iMac no problem at all. Usually software like this comes with two licences I believe, at least that's how Photoshop is.

Also the same serial number is used for both Mac and Windows versions of the software.
