Open Notice To Leica Camera Ag--if Anyone Returns A Black M8 To You Because Of Concerns About 8 Bit Color Depth, Banding, Magenta Cast Or Anything Else, Please Let Me Know Because I Will Buy It.
I've Seen Enough Examples Of What The Camera Can Do In The Hands Of Photographers Who Know What They're Doing That I Will Gladly Take One As Is. THANK YOU, PS--Anybody out there got a black M8 they want to return? There have been so many complaints, somebody MUST have one. I want one of the originals--before any "fix" is applied. __ Brent

I returned a black M8 to Popflash. Check with Tony.
And I totally agree with you, if what you mean is 'Photographers who know what they are doing and can see very quickly that they should avoid any high ISO situations with bright lights of any sort, or any situation where people in the picture may be wearing black clothing with tacky synthetic fibers, and are basically cool with a $5000 camera that imposes these limitations." Clay there just work arounds for some of us, been doing that all my career but this one is a lot tougher to deal with. That by no means i don't want a leica fix. I been digital only for 12 years did you ever hear of a Kodak 420 23 thousand dollars and the files looked like it was snowing. LOL. Trying to figure how long a go that was anyone remember the Apple Quadro 840V was out that is when I started digital . PS 2.5 . Let me tell you we are light years ahead today.

Guy, you are right about the workarounds. I have been using computers since the dark ages, so I know workarounds, believe me. I just thought the tone in the post implied that people who knew what they were doing could make it work, and those who couldn't were, well, just a little dim.
I definitely could make it work in a subset of situations, but I just couldn't justify the time and expense in finding workarounds when I have a completely working system right now that does not have this limitations. I am sincerely grateful to those of you who are on the bleeding edge here, and I will certainly benefit from your work in six months or a year when they get this thing firing on all cylinders. Good hunting. Quote:

I totally understand people not wanting to do the workarounds . You pay your money and expect it to work. So did I and the extra work and money is a PITA

Tony may have more returns than most, but that's because he sent out more M8's in a single day than most major cities received. And he had a list of twice as many buyers lined up for the next few shipments. I'm on that list, and if he gets 'em, I'll take mine, thank you.
