I am new to Leica, just picked up my M8 yesterday.
I am trying to figure out the difference between the two 75's other than the f stop difference. I will use this lens for portrait and also evnt type photography like fairs etc. I have the 28 2.8 and the 50 1.4 lux which would probably work for some portrait stuff but I also want something a little longer so that I am not so "in your face" type of thing. Any thoughts would be appreciated. |

I use the 'Lux, as I need the stop. I've been using this lens with excellent results for many years, but it's an older lens.
There is a newer 75 in an asph formulation. That is also a 'cron. I look forward to reevaluating my lenses when the M8 arrives.

I've used the 75 lux for some time. I like it for low light work eg in theatres, concerts etc. It is heavier than the 75 cron and it can block part of the viewfinder. However, I don't find this a major problem. If you use it for portraits, it does have a nice slightly creamy signature with good bokeh if that's what you're looking for.

The 75mmf2.0 is a modern design which weighs about half of the 1.4 which is a 20year old design. In fact, according to some, the 75mmf2 is....faultless ! Since you have the 50mm1.4
I would opt for the 75mmf2. |

Thanks for the info. Makes sense to me as I really don't need the extra stop and the smaller size and weight is a bonus although after lugging my 1DMKII and L lens combo they are tiny.
