IR sensitivity causing banding too ?

Perhaps the increased IR sensitivity of the M8 sensor might be contributing to or causing the banding as well as the magenta cast problem.

If the banding is due to photosite overload and subsequent leakage, as has been suggested, maybe most of this overload is from wavelengths in the IR rather than visible spectrum. It might turn out that reducing the amount of IR accepted by the sensor, say by using an IR-cutting filter, reduces banding too. After all, the banding seems to be associated with sources which are high in IR radiation. And the success of the DMR ( greater IR suppression ) in similar situations supports this idea. We might be seeing two problems with essentially the same cause here.

It will be interesting to see when someone tries the M8 with the ' new ' Leica filters or something similar if it has any affect on the banding problem.

I share the affection for Leica evident in most of the posts here, but have just reached the point where I believe I have no choice but to postpone my order. I wish Leica every success in solving these issues, and when they have I will get one.
