Default M8 Shut Down Problem

Earlier today someone named Edmund posted a reply in one of the threads about the banding problem. He explained he not only had the banding, but that now his camera had just completely shut down. I replied to his comment that I knew one other person who had just told me about having the same thing happen to his M8.

At this point, I can find neither the original remark in any of the banding threads, nor my reply.

Does anyone else recall seeing this? If so, can you tell me where to find it again?

Edmund--If you are reading this, please send me a private message. I'd like to discuss the issue with you.

Regards,

It's here, Brent:

Thanks.

Thanks much, Allan. But when I click on the link, I get an "Invalid Link" message suggesting I contact the administrator. Can you check it?

Okay.

I think I got it fixed.

Can somebody try it and let me know?

Thanks.

If it locks up or shuts down, just pull the battery and it should restart. I did this several times today. I'm going to get a new memory card tomorrow as I suspect some possible incompatibility here.

Edmund:

What brand card were you using? Was it on the list of supported cards?

Does the M8 come with a Sandisk card in the box like the DMR did?

Regards,
This happened to me with both my DMRs and all four of my batteries. Apparently, there was a little bit of condensation in/on the batteries and it was creating the short. Leica NJ cleaned/dried the batteries and all is good now. This is not to say that this is the issue you have had, but it is another data point.
