Frage DL4 JPG sharpness

Hi fellow DL4 users,

I have been enjoying my 1 month old DL4 tremedously after choosing it over its favourite rival - the Canon G10. The color tone of the DL4's pictures is more natural and this is what I treasure most.

However, I find that on certain images, especially protraits in "Standard Film" mode, the jpgs can be a little too soft for my liking. In "Dynamic B&W" mode however, it's perfectly fine.

Do fellow DL4 users feel the same way and increase in the sharpness level for jpg output in "Standard Film" mode?

Thanks and best regards.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Are you in one of the "scene" modes - "Portrait"? If you are, most likely the portrait setting will be a bit softer. Also you might want to check the focus area you've chosen. I generally use the smallest area and place it over a person's eyes, lock the focus there and then recompose my shot when shooting people. Shooting in RAW mode is really worth checking out too. It's an incredible camera. I had a G9 and the DL4 works much better for the images I shoot. Good luck.
