Default Best way to prepare wedding CD?

I just shot a wedding for a friend. Not something I normally do, but they needed someone, so I stepped in. The pictures are very nice.

I need to make them a CD. No slide show, etc. -- just the files. They will do the rest. I shot RAW and processed in Lightroom. I expect they will make a bunch of 4x6", 5x7" and a some 8x10s through an online service or local store.

Appreciate any thoughts on the best file format and size to export them? JPG? TIF?

I print everything myself and don't know much about lower-end commercial printing requirements.

Thanks.

John

John, when I do this, I deliver jpg's -- because if they want a really hi-quality print they'll need to come to me for the higher-res image. And, given the disk, they can buy inexpensive prints at the processor store and email them. A good combo.

Depending on the number of images, you may need to use a DVD for the storage medium.

Glad they came out well. It's nice when your client appreciates you.

Likewise, jpegs, save so that they will print to A4, it's unlikely that they'll go larger in any case.

I deliver level 12 JPEGs and that should be plenty for all kinds of prints. Also, are you sure you can fit this onto a CD? I needed to switch to DVD a few years ago because the files from these cameras are large.

I only deliver 16-bit TIFFs to magazines or commercial clients (because art departments and graphic designers are ready to deal with those giant files).

Cheers,

Also, MPIX.com is the "consumer" branch of Millers and they do quite a good job. Since we always deliver high-res. files to our wedding clients (as opposed to selling prints, etc.), we recommend MPIX to them. Melissa and I have never sold prints (connected to commercial wedding work) and I doubt that we ever would.

Cheers,

Thanks everyone! High quality jpegs it is. And I'll pass on the MPIX info. What a great resource you all are.
