Default Turn red eye off with D-lux 3

Hi all

Thinking about getting a D-lux 3 but have concerns about how the flash works.

It seems like if you want to force the flash on, it has too be with an anti red eye preflash, whether you want it or not. This obviously increases the shutter lag time and also drains batteries.

Is there some way you can force the flash to fire without this pre flash, eg update firmware etc?

In Auto mode I think you are right.
However in P mode etc if you open the flash then press the right hand cursor button (it has the flash symbol on it) you can then select:
Auto
Auto/RedEye
Forced flash on
Slow Sync

That's good to know. I was playing around with one in the shop but didn't really get the chance to figure out if it was possible to turn it off.

dorman is exactly right and also works in Aperture or Shutter priority...

open the flash, press the right side flash symbol and the menu pops up....works great
